Clock In in the Staff App
Categories and articles
Most restaurants clock on the time clock on site, with your personal code. See Clock In and Out. There is then no clock button in the staff app, and that is not a fault.
If your employer has turned on clocking in the app you see the Stämpling (clocking) card at the top of Hem (home).
How to clock in
- Open Hem in the staff portal
- If you want to explain something to your manager, tap Lägg till kommentar (add comment), which is optional
- Tap Stämpla in (clock in)
If you have no shift right now the card asks Du har inget pass nu. Stämpla in ändå? (you have no shift now, clock in anyway?). Tap Stämpla in if you are going to work, for example when you step in, otherwise Avbryt (cancel). The question appears when you have neither a published shift starting within two hours nor one in progress.
If your manager has added messages for the shift, they are shown once you have clocked in.
While you are clocked in the card says for how long, for example Instämplad 3 h 12 min (clocked in 3 h 12 min), with Sedan 08:01 (since 08:01) below. The time updates every minute and comes from the server, so it is right even if your phone's clock is off.
How to clock out
Tap Stämpla ut (clock out) on the same card. Two questions may come first:
- If you clocked in less than five minutes ago it says for example Du stämplade in för 2 minuter sedan. Stämpla ut? (you clocked in 2 minutes ago, clock out?). Tap Stämpla ut if you meant it, otherwise Avbryt. It guards against an accidental tap.
- If your employer counts the meal benefit only on days you ate you get the question Åt du personalmat idag? (did you eat a staff meal today?). Tap Ja (yes) or Nej (no) and you are clocked out. Avbryt does not clock you out.
Afterwards a message shows your time, for example Du jobbade 7 h 32 min (08:01–16:33) (you worked 7 h 32 min). The time is the clocked time minus the break, and if a break was deducted it says how long it was. Your entries appear under Tider (time), see View Your Work Hours.
If the restaurant requires location or your own phone
Clocking in the app may require being on site and using a linked phone.
If location checks are on, allow location access on your phone and stay within the restaurant zone. A card on Hem tells you that your location is read.
If phone linking is required, use the Vendion app: enter your code at the till, choose Koppla min telefon, enter the six-digit pairing code under Hem ▸ Din telefon in the app and press Koppla. Follow the phone identification step at clock-in. Ask your manager for help if you have changed phones or cannot link yours.
Your manager can also limit how long before and after a shift you may clock in. Anyone without a published shift can always clock in.
When clocking does not work
- Kunde inte läsa din stämpling (could not read your clocking). The card does not know whether you are in or out, so the button is blocked instead of guessing. Reload the page.
- Stämplingen gick inte att läsa. Försök igen. (clocking could not be read, try again). The portal could not read the restaurant's setting. Reload the page.
- An error message below the button. The punch did not go through. The text says why.
Did you forget to clock out, or is a time wrong? Tell your manager, who corrects the entry under Personal ▸ Tider.
For managers: how to turn on clocking in the app
- Go to Personal ▸ Inställningar ▸ Tider
- Turn on Stämpling i personalinlogg (clocking in the staff login)
The setting is off from the start. Kod på kassan (code at the till) and clocking in the app can be on at the same time, but at least one must be on. Punches in the app end up in the staff register and under Tider just like punches on the clock.
When the setting is on, these also appear:
- Tillåt stämpling runt passet (allow clocking around the shift) – how many minutes before the shift starts and after it ends clocking in is allowed. 0 means no limit. Anyone without a published shift is always let through, so that people stepping in are not locked out.
- Kräv personalens egen telefon (require the employee's own phone) and location checks, if they are enabled for the restaurant. More in Staff Settings.
Staff need a login of their own, see Get Your Staff Started with the App.

A break can come from three places: staff press Break, the shift has a scheduled break, or your rules deduct automatically. One of them wins – and the order is fixed. If the break could not be taken, you mark the shift and it is paid.
