Magic Button – a quick button for staff

    2 min read#99

Magic Button is a small physical button you place where it's useful – at the bar, in the kitchen or at a table. With a single press it performs a predefined action in Vendion, without anyone having to walk to the till.

    What can a button do?

    ActionWhat happens on press
Order & send to kitchenA chosen item is ordered and sent to the kitchen for a specific table
Service alertAn alert is sent to staff (e.g. "table 5 needs help")
Request billA bill request is sent for a specific table

Each button can also tell apart press, double-press and hold – so one button can do three different things.

    Where do I manage it?

You'll find Magic Button under Admin → Devices → Magic Button. It's a licensed feature – if the tab isn't showing, the feature isn't enabled for your restaurant (get in touch and we'll sort it out).

    How to get started:

    1. Go to Admin → Devices → Magic Button
    2. Tap Add Flic Hub – the buttons connect via a small hub that Vendion preconfigures for you
    3. Press a physical button once – it then appears automatically in the list
    4. Tap Configure on the button and choose:
      • Gesture (Press / Double-press / Hold)
      • Action (Order & send to kitchen, Service alert or Request bill)
      • The table it applies to
      • For ordering: which item and quantity
    5. Save – done

    Good to know:

    • New buttons don't need to be added manually – they register automatically the first time they're pressed.
    • You can rename each button so you know which one sits where.
    • The buttons show battery level in the list so you can see when it's time to change the battery.

Tip: A "Request bill" button at every table, or an "order the house beer" button at the bar, saves staff a lot of steps on a busy evening.

This feature is part of Vendion POS.
