Create and Manage Menu Groups

Menu groups organize your menu in the POS. Find them under Meny → Menygrupper → Meny (menu → menu groups → menu). The Favoriter (favorites) subtab beside Meny is used to set the order of your favorites.

The menu has two levels: main groups (Huvudmeny) and subgroups (Undermeny). A main group has either subgroups or items of its own – if it has subgroups, the items live in them.

Create a main group:

1. Click + Huvudmeny (main menu)
2. Enter a name (e.g. "Food", "Drinks", "Dessert")
3. Confirm the name with Enter.
4. Select the colour dot to choose a colour.

Create a subgroup:

1. Expand the main group in the list.
2. Select + Undermeny (submenu) beneath it.
3. Enter a name (e.g. "Starters", "Mains")
4. Confirm with Enter

Edit a menu group:

• Double-click on the group name to rename it directly
• Select the pencil to change color or other settings

Ticket destination for new items: Select the pencil on the group and choose Bongdestination för nya artiklar (ticket destination for new items), for example Kitchen for the Food group. A new product in the group then gets that destination filled in, and you can change it before you save.

• A submenu without a choice of its own uses the main group's destination
• Existing products don't change, and a product moved to another group keeps its destination
• The product's own ticket destination always takes precedence over the group's

Move a menu group:

• Into another group: click Flytta till… (move to) on the group's row, choose the main group and click Flytta (move). The group becomes a submenu and is placed last in its new list. This also moves a submenu to another main group
• To a main group: click Flytta till… on a submenu, choose Gör till huvudmeny (make it a main menu) and click Flytta. It is placed last among the main menus
• With the pencil: choose Typ (type: Huvudmeny or Undermeny) and, for a submenu, which main group it Tillhör (belongs to). Click Spara (save)

Move a product to another menu group:

1. Expand the group that contains the product
2. Click Flytta till… on the product's row
3. Search for or select a destination. Submenus include their main menu, for example Dryck / Vin (drinks / wine)
4. Click Flytta. The product is placed last in the selected group, even if you have not opened that group before

The rules:

• A subgroup can't have subgroups of its own
• A group that has subgroups can't be put inside another group
• A group with subgroups has no items of its own. It shows no Ny artikel (new item) and cannot be selected as a product's destination – choose a submenu
• If older items still sit directly in a group with subgroups, they are shown with a warning: the POS doesn't show them. Use Flytta till… to place them in a submenu

When the group already has items: A group that gets its first subgroup can't keep items of its own. The Flytta artiklarna i "Food" dialog (move the items in "Food", with the group's name) therefore first shows how many items the group has and asks what a new submenu for them should be called. The suggestion is "Övrigt Food" (other Food). Click Flytta och fortsätt (move and continue) and all of the group's items – including archived ones – move there, and then what you asked for is carried out. The new submenu gets the main group's settings, such as its colour and default product group. Avbryt (cancel) leaves everything as it was.

The question appears when you place a group there with Flytta till…, when you create the group's first submenu and when you move a group with the pencil.

Sort menu groups and products:

• Drag the handle on the left to change the order within the same list: main menus among themselves, submenus under the same main menu, or products within one menu group
• An expanded menu group moves together with its contents
• Dragging does not change a product's menu group or a submenu's main menu. Use Flytta till… to choose another placement
• The order is saved immediately. The product order applies in admin, on every POS, in online ordering and in Express
• A new product is placed last in its menu group
• The product order can also be changed directly in the POS with the small round button at the end of the list, see the article on the menu display in the POS

Favorites order: Open Meny → Menygrupper → Favoriter. Drag the handle or use the arrows, then click Spara ordning (save order). The same order applies to every POS. Mark new favorites in the product editor or in the POS; a new favorite is placed last.

Delete a menu group:

• Select the bin. The Ta bort menygrupp (delete menu group) dialog opens
• If the group is empty, click Ta bort (delete)
• Products you have deleted don't count. A product that has been sold is archived instead of deleted. It appears under Produkter (products) with the Arkiverade (archived) filter, not in the menu group, and doesn't stop the group from being deleted
• If the group has items, the dialog shows how many and asks you to choose which menu group they should move to. Choose it under Flytta artiklarna till (move the items to) and click Flytta och ta bort (move and delete). All of the group's items move, including archived ones, and the group is deleted in the same step. You can only move them to a group without subgroups
• A group with items can't be deleted without moving the items. The items are never deleted
• If the group has submenus, they become main menus
• If you later restore an archived product whose menu group has been deleted, admin reminds you to choose a new menu group. Open the product and choose a group, otherwise it shows neither in the POS menu groups nor online

Items without a menu group: If older items have lost their menu group, for example because the group was deleted in the past, they are linked to a new menu group with the same name as the old one when you create it. The same happens when you rename a group to that name, as long as the group has no subgroups.

Tips:

• Use clear, short names – they appear as buttons in the POS
• Color-coding helps staff quickly find the right group
• Keep the number of main groups under 8–10 for the best overview
