Shorter Seating – Book the Gaps Between Bookings

Between two bookings there is often a gap that is too short for a full seating, for example 1 hour 45 minutes when the seating is 2 hours. Without shorter seating that time never gets booked. With shorter seating the guest can book the gap, and sees how long the table is theirs before booking.

Turn on shorter seating:

1. Go to Bordsbokning › Inställningar › Skift & Tider
2. Under Bokningsskift (booking shifts), click the pencil on the shift, for example Dinner. The Redigera skift (edit shift) panel opens
3. Turn on Erbjud kortare sittning (offer shorter seating, the Kortare sittning row)
4. Choose Kortaste tid (shortest time) – the shortest seating a guest can get. The options go in steps of 15 minutes and are always shorter than the shift's seat length
5. Fill in Gäller upp till (applies up to) – the largest party that can get a shorter seating
6. Click Spara

The setting is per shift. A shift where it is on gets the Kortare sittning badge in the list. It starts off, with a shortest time of 90 minutes and up to 4 guests.

How the time is chosen:

• A time that fits the full seating is always shown with the full seating. A shorter seating never replaces a full one.
• If the time does not fit the full seating, the system tries 15 minutes shorter at a time, down to the shortest time. The guest always gets the longest seating that fits.
• The full seating is the seat length for the party size: a rule under Sittlängd per gästantal (seat length per party size) if there is one, otherwise the shift's Sittlängd.
• Parties larger than Gäller upp till only get the full seating.

Example: Restaurang Exempel has the Dinner shift with a seat length of 120 minutes, a shortest time of 90 minutes and up to 4 guests. A table is free at 18:45 but booked again at 20:30. Anna Andersson, booking for 2, sees 18:45 with "till 20:30" (until 20:30) and can book 1 hour 45 minutes. A party of 6 does not get the time as a shorter seating.

What the guest sees:

• In the time list on the booking page and in the widget, a discreet line under the time, for example "till 20:30". Times with the full seating have no such line
• Above Boka bord (book table): "Bordet är ert 18:45–20:30, en lite kortare sittning" (the table is yours 18:45–20:30, a slightly shorter seating). The same line is on the confirmation
• The end time is in the confirmation text message, for example "18:45-20:30", and on the page where the guest changes their booking

What staff see:

• Kort sittning · till 20:30 (short seating · until 20:30) in the booking list, in the booking's detail panel and in Översikt med bordskarta (overview with floor plan), both in admin and in the POS
• Kort (short) on the booking in the timeline
• The badge shows that the table must be free at the end time
• If staff change the time or length of the booking, the badge is removed. The time staff set then applies

Not yet included: Shorter seating is only offered when the guest books themselves on the booking page or in the widget. It does not apply to staff's Ny bokning (new booking), bookings through the AI assistants, events, resources or waitlist offers.

Keep in mind: If a rule under Sittlängd per gästantal gives the same or a shorter time than the shortest time, those parties never get a shorter seating. If the rule for 1–2 guests is 90 minutes and the shortest time is 90, there is nothing to shorten for couples.
