Register Audit – See What Staff Did
The register audit is your internal control over everything that happens at the register beyond regular sales. Every time staff give a discount, void a line, make a return, or open the cash drawer, it is recorded automatically – with timestamp, employee, and amount. You find it under Admin → Register Audit.
Why it matters
In a restaurant it is rarely the sales themselves that leak money – it is everything around them. A "free" beer here, a forgotten void there. The register audit makes it all visible so you can follow up without standing at the register. The log is read-only and cannot be changed afterward, which makes it a reliable record.
What you see
The list shows one row per event with five columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Time | Date and time (to the second) |
| Staff | Which employee performed the action |
| Action | Type of event, color-coded by severity |
| Target | Which order or item it concerned |
| Amount | Sum where relevant (e.g. the size of the discount) |
Click a row to expand the full details of the event.
Actions that are logged
- Discounts – both preset and open (free amount)
- Voided lines and cancelled paid orders
- Returns (refunds)
- Comps – complimentary items
- Price overrides – when a price is changed manually
- Cash drawer openings with no link to a sale
- Cash operations – float, deposits, withdrawals
Permission
The register audit requires the right permission to view. If the button is greyed out or hidden, the logged-in staff lacks the permission – an administrator controls this under user settings.
