Menu Filtering and Allergens for Guests
How Online Order handles allergens – filtering, AI warnings, and allergen information per product.
Allergen handling in Online Order
Online Order uses the same allergen data as your menu in the POS. When you mark allergens on a product in the menu, it's automatically visible to guests ordering online.
How it works for the guest
Proactive AI question
The AI assistant can ask the guest about allergies early in the conversation. If the guest specifies an allergy, recommendations are filtered automatically.
Warning on risk
If the guest tries to order a product containing a declared allergen, the AI shows a clear warning:
"Please note: Caesar salad contains gluten and egg. Would you like to choose something else?"
Allergen info per product
The guest can ask about ingredients and allergens for any dish. The AI responds based on the allergen data you've entered in the menu.
Available allergen filters
Vendion supports the 14 EU allergens:
- Gluten, Crustaceans, Eggs, Fish, Peanuts, Soy, Milk, Tree nuts, Celery, Mustard, Sesame, Sulphur dioxide/sulphites, Lupin, Molluscs
How to enter allergen data
- Go to Admin → Menu
- Edit a product
- Under Allergens – check the allergens that the product contains
- Save – the information syncs automatically to Online Order
Tips
- Make sure all products have correct allergen data – the AI can only warn if there's data
- Test by ordering as a guest and specifying an allergy
- Update allergen data directly in the menu – it takes effect immediately
