SMS Costs and Billing
Vendion charges a flat per-message price for SMS that applies to all SMS sends regardless of type or volume. The price is transparent and in line with what our SMS provider ClickSend charges — we make nothing on SMS volume.
Price: see the current price list at vendion.com/pris (flat per-message price within Sweden).

Long SMS
A standard SMS is max 160 characters (GSM-7 alphabet). If your message is longer, it's sent as multiple SMS and charged as multiple:
- 1–160 chars = 1 SMS = 1 × the per-message price
- 161–306 chars = 2 SMS = 2 × the per-message price
- 307–459 chars = 3 SMS = 3 × the per-message price
Unicode characters (emoji, å/ä/ö in some cases) shorten the limit to 70 characters per SMS. Keep this in mind when writing campaigns:
- "Hi Anna! 🎂" — emoji can trigger Unicode mode
- Keep campaigns short to keep costs down
Cost preview in campaigns
Before you click Send on a campaign, Vendion shows exactly what it will cost:
Example: 500 recipients in the "VIP guests" segment
Cost: 500 × the per-message price (see price list)
Recipients with SMS consent: 500 of 537
Estimated delivery time: ~5 minutes
Guests without SMS consent are automatically excluded — you only pay for those who actually receive the message. If you use automations, they send continuously and are counted in real time.
Tracking and logs
Every SMS is logged individually (both for campaigns and automations) with:
- Recipient phone number (anonymized in reports)
- Timestamp
- Delivery status (sent / delivered / bounced / unsubscribed)
- Cost (the per-message price from the price list)
- Delivery ID from ClickSend (for troubleshooting delivery issues)
See total SMS cost
As a restaurant owner, you see the total SMS cost on the monthly invoice from Vendion. SMS cost is charged as a separate line on the monthly invoice under "Marketing — SMS" or "Communication". Here is how the invoice is laid out:
Vendion Marketing (subscription) per your price list
SMS sends 247 × per-message price 247 × per-message price

Total excl VAT sum of the above
VAT 25%

(Exact amounts appear on your own invoice and in the price list at vendion.com/pris.)
Accounting
SMS costs are typically booked to account 6350 (Marketing) or 6540 (IT services). Consult your accountant for exact categorization.
International SMS
Numbers outside Sweden (+1, +44, +49 etc.) have variable pricing depending on country:
- Nordics (Norway, Denmark, Finland): same per-message price as within Sweden
- EU: slightly higher per SMS, varies by country
- US/UK: in line with the Swedish per-message price
- Rest of world: variable, contact support@vendion.com before bulk sending
The system warns if a segment contains international numbers and shows estimated extra cost.
Tips to keep costs down
1. Collect email addresses Email is free via Resend. A campaign to 2,000 email subscribers costs 0 SEK — the same campaign via SMS costs 2,000 times the per-message price (see price list). Build up the email list in parallel.
2. Keep SMS short 160 characters is the limit for 1 SMS. Aim for 140–150 for safety margin (variables can extend the text at send time).
3. Segment smarter Don't send to "everyone" — send to "Regulars who haven't visited in 30 days" instead. 200 relevant recipients beat 2,000 irrelevant ones.
4. Leverage automations instead of campaigns A welcome automation that triggers automatically costs the same per SMS as a manual campaign, but is more personal and converts better.
5. Respect unsubscribes SMS STOP is triggered automatically — the system stops sending and you stop paying for that guest. Don't manually re-add names if they previously unsubscribed.
Upcoming changes The SMS price is a flat per-message rate today (see the current price list at vendion.com/pris). In Q3 2026 we will make the price configurable so individual restaurants can negotiate volume discounts. Until then, the same per-message price applies to all customers regardless of volume.
