The Start Tab – Deviations to Handle and Today's Staffing
Start is the tab that opens when you enter Staff. It answers two questions: what do I need to handle, and who is working today?
The tab is shown to anyone with schedule or payroll permission – the same requirement as Schedule and Time.
Notices: deviations to handle
The left side lists time entries from the last 14 days that need your attention. The count sits as a number next to the heading, and entries are grouped by date with weekday and week number, most recent day first.
This is an action list, not an activity feed. An entry you have approved, marked as a guest shift or voided disappears automatically. If the list cannot be cleared it stops meaning anything – and then your staff stop caring about the number too.
If everything is in order it simply says: "Inga avvikelser att hantera just nu." (No deviations to handle right now.)
The fourteen-day window is deliberate. Start should show what you can still do something about, not the whole history. If you need to go further back – for a payroll reconciliation, or when an employee questions an old time entry – you do that in Personal ▸ Tider, which shows all reported time with no cut-off.
The three deviation types
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Icke schemalagt arbete (Unscheduled work) | Someone punched in without having a shift in the schedule. Either they worked extra, or the shift is missing |
| Bortglömd utstämpling (Forgotten clock-out) | A punch from an earlier day that was never closed |
| Ändrad (Adjusted) | The time entry was adjusted afterwards and carries a note explaining why |
A single entry can carry several labels at once.
Clearing a notice
Click the row. You land in Personal ▸ Tider ▸ Rapporterad with the right person expanded and the right week showing – no searching required.
There you correct the time, add the missing shift, or approve the entry as it stands. Once approved it disappears from Start.
Why the dates always hold
Both the grouping of the notices and the judgement of what counts as today are based on server time in the Swedish time zone – never on the clock of the computer or tablet you happen to be using.
That matters in practice. A shift ending at 00:30 lands under the right date heading whether you open Start from a tablet in the kitchen, from home or while on holiday, and the deep link into Tider opens the right week. With the device clock, a night shift could land under the wrong day and the deviation would look as if it had vanished.
Today's shifts
The right side lists today's published shifts with the person's name, role colour, station and times, sorted by start time. Shifts with nobody assigned are not shown here – they belong in the schedule view, where you staff them.
A shift in progress gets the label Pågår (In progress). That is based on an open punch – meaning the person actually clocked in and has not clocked out – linked to the shift or to the person, and no older than 20 hours. The clock time alone is not enough: a shift should not look like it is in progress for someone who never showed up, nor look finished while they are still in the kitchen.
If you do not use the time clock at all, the column falls back on the shift's clock times so it is not left empty.
When it says nobody is working today
An unpublished shift does not count, and is therefore not shown in the list. But the emptiness is explained: if there are drafts for today, Start says so plainly, along with a reminder that they need publishing.
The Gå till schema button takes you straight there.
This is a common trap at the start of a week. If you have laid out the shifts but not pressed Publish, neither your staff nor the system knows they apply.
What is not here
Start shows staffing and deviations – not money. Yesterday's sales, labour cost as a share of revenue and other financial metrics live in Analytics++, not in Staff.
