How Your Chain Is Created in Vendion

    3 min read#3

When you want to launch a chain in Vendion – as a franchisor, holding company, or multi-unit operator – we help you set it up. It's a smooth process that typically takes 1-2 business days from when you reach out to support until you have your chain dashboard.

    How it works

    1. You contact Vendion support and say you want to start a chain
    2. We gather the details we need (see below)
    3. We create the chain for you and set up admin permissions
    4. You get a confirmation with a link to your chain dashboard
    5. You log in at /chain/your-slug/ and can start working

    What we need from you

    Before contacting us, consider:

    • Chain name – e.g. "Burger Buffet Holding AB"
    • Desired slug (URL part) – e.g. burger-holding (lowercase, hyphens, no special characters). It becomes part of your chain URL: vendion.com/chain/burger-holding/
    • Owner – which Vendion user should be the chain owner (typically CEO/owner with full admin on one of the units)
    • Typefranchise (everything shared), holding (loyalty + gift cards shared), or custom (you choose). See Chain Types for details.
    • Member restaurants – list of existing restaurants to include. Each must already exist in Vendion.

    Slug – rules and tips

The slug is part of the URL: vendion.com/chain/:slug/... and must be globally unique. We recommend:

    • Lowercase
    • Hyphens instead of spaces
    • Short (<30 characters)
    • Clearly tied to the brand

    Good examples: burger-holding, pizzeria-napoli, sushi-group

Bad examples: BurgerHolding (uppercase), b_h (cryptic), burger holding ab (spaces)

After the chain is created, the slug is read-only for you as the chain owner. If you need to change it (e.g. after a name change) – reach out to support and we'll help you.

    What happens automatically

When we set up your chain, the system creates:

    1. The chain itself with the correct type and sharing flags
    2. An Admin group with full rights in the chain console
    3. Your account as the first member of the Admin group

You immediately get access to all chain features: dashboard, consolidated analytics, menu template, brand controls, chain gift cards, and member management.

    Attaching your restaurants

Creating the chain itself does not link any restaurants automatically – that's a separate step. See Attach Restaurant to Chain for how to bring your units into the chain. You contact Vendion support with the restaurant ID and desired sharing flags, and we handle the attachment for you.

    Why does Vendion handle this?

In the MVP (April 2026), we at Vendion handle chain creation for you. This ensures every chain is reviewed, slugs are globally unique, and admin rights are set correctly from the start. In later phases, we plan self-service chain creation for verified large customers.

    Cost and time

Creating a chain costs nothing extra – it's included in the Vendion platform. The process typically takes 1-2 business days from when you contact support until the chain is ready and you have full dashboard access.

What you get as chain owner

Once the chain is created, you can:

    • See KPIs across all member restaurants in your chain dashboard
    • Build and publish menu templates to units
    • Lock logo, colors, and fonts for brand consistency
    • Sell chain gift cards redeemable at all units
    • Invite chain members and assign them the right permissions
    • Export consolidated P&L across all units

Next step: Once the chain is created, read Chain Owner's Console to understand what you have access to.
