Add and Pair a Card Terminal

The card terminal is the physical device where the guest inserts or taps their card. You add it in the app and then connect it to a register.
Where to do it: Go to Devices in the admin view and select the Card terminals tab.
Add a terminal:
- Click Add terminal.
- Enter the terminal's serial number – it's printed on the terminal (and in your terminal account).
- Give it a name (optional), for example "Bar counter" or "Waiter 1".
- Click Add.
The terminal is automatically connected to your restaurant. It restarts itself and can take up to about 3 hours to become active the first time.
Terminal status:

| Active | Ready to use |
| Assigning… | Connecting now – wait or click "Refresh status" |
| Error | Something went wrong – see the troubleshooting article |
When the terminal is Active and switched on, the Payment-ready badge appears.
Connect the terminal to a register: Go to Devices → Registers → Hardware and connect the terminal to the right register. That tells the register which terminal to send the amount to.
Stationary or mobile?
- A stationary terminal sits at a fixed register.
- A mobile terminal you can carry with you and use to take payment at the table (see the Pay at Table article).
