Vendion's Express kiosk is a self-service device (like McDonald's kiosks) where guests can order themselves at the counter – perfect for lunch rushes, takeaway-focused restaurants, or as an overflow terminal during peak hours.
What is Express kiosk?
Express is a self-service view at /staff/express that:
- Shows the menu in large, click-friendly cards
- Takes card payment directly at the kiosk
- Sends the order to the kitchen automatically
- Resets itself after each order (attract screen)
- Has inactivity timer (default 120 sec)
Unlike Online Order (chat-based), Express is visually menu-oriented.

- Choose order type (if configured)
- Add some products
- Review the cart
- Test payment (simulated)
- Verify the receipt prints

Best practices
Placement
- Visible from entrance – guests should see it directly
- Flat surface – no movement
- Near card reader – card should reach the reader without stretching
- Good lighting – screen shouldn't reflect
UX tips
- Large images – product images sell
- Short menu – limit to 20-30 products for faster flow
- Clear CTA – "ADD" should be large and colorful
Security
- Clear cache regularly – the tablet shouldn't accumulate junk
- Restart daily – avoid memory leaks
- Update OS – security fixes required for the card reader
