The hotel switches to Vendion

Why is Hotel Lysekil switching its POS system to Vendion?
Hotel Lysekil could not charge virtual cards from Expedia and Booking.com with its previous provider. In Vendion, those payments are taken directly at the register. The hotel also wanted a stripped-back screen for quick checkouts and a provider that handles setup and support.
On October 6, 2026, Hotel Lysekil switched its POS system to Vendion. The setup is simple: one POS station and one card terminal. The main reason for the switch was being able to charge virtual cards from Expedia and Booking.com.
Virtual cards from Expedia and Booking.com
When a guest books and pays through Expedia or Booking.com, the hotel is often paid with a virtual card. It is a card number created for that specific booking. The card does not exist physically and cannot be inserted into a terminal, so the hotel has to key in the card details to charge the amount.
With the previous provider, that was not possible. For a hotel that sells rooms through travel sites, it is not a detail but a basic requirement.
In Vendion, the payment is started directly at the register as a MOTO payment, where the card is not present. The card details are keyed in on the card terminal. Card acquiring is included in Vendion Acquiring, so the money arrives in the same payout as the hotel's other card payments.
– We should listen to what customers actually need in their day-to-day operations. Here, virtual cards were essential, and then it is our job to solve it. Now we have, says Mikael Selander, founder and CEO of Vendion.
A stripped-back screen for checkout
Otherwise, the needs are straightforward. At reception, staff need to check out many guests quickly. The hotel therefore wanted a stripped-back POS screen with what is needed and nothing more. The view in Vendion's POS system can be customized so that only the buttons the hotel uses are on screen.
The hotel was also able to keep the hardware it already had, which made the switch smooth.
A provider that takes responsibility
The hotel wanted to spend as little time as possible on its POS system. Vendion handles setup and maintenance, and the hotel has one point of contact for the POS, the card terminal and payments. Staffed support around the clock is included for paying customers.
– We wanted a system that just works and a provider that takes responsibility for it. Now we can charge bookings from Expedia and Booking.com at the register, and checkout is quick, says Peter Sundström, manager at Hotel Lysekil.
