Mobile POS and QR payments on the outdoor terrace

Mobile POS and QR payments on the outdoor terrace

How can payment at the table simplify terrace service?

A mobile POS lets staff manage orders and bills at the table. QR payment gives guests a way to pay on their own phones. Both can reduce walking, but require working internet, clear payment procedures and assistance for guests who prefer personal service.

On a large terrace, the distance to the till can take time away from service. Follow one table from ordering to payment. Which journeys are necessary, and which happen because information is only available at a fixed screen?

Mobile POS and payment terminals have different roles

A mobile POS gives staff access to orders and bills. A card terminal handles payment. These functions may share a device or use separate connected devices. Confirm which setup you are ordering.

Test an order with modifiers, send it to the kitchen and split the bill at the table. Check how staff find an earlier order and resolve an error without leaving the guest uncertain about payment.

QR payment is a separate choice

With Snap and Pay, guests scan a QR code on the bill or a screen. They select items or the whole bill and pay in the browser. This is different from a code that only opens a menu or starts a new order.

Explain briefly what the code does. Staff should help anyone without battery, internet or a wish to use their phone. An option at the table works best when it is not imposed on guests.

Check the environment before busy service

Test coverage at the far end of the terrace and when the venue is busy. Check screen readability in sunlight, charging routines and storage when the weather changes. Vendion requires internet.

Assign someone to prepare the devices before the shift. Follow your login and permission procedures even when several staff share equipment.

A partial payment is not a settled bill

Staff need to check the remaining balance before closing the table. If payment is interrupted or a guest is unsure, investigate status before another attempt. Keep receipt and reconciliation procedures in place.

    Measure what changes

Track time to payment, walking and requests for help. Shorter payment time does not automatically create another seating; that also needs demand, table clearing and kitchen capacity.
