Vendion Launches Snap and Pay: Let Guests Split the Bill via QR Code

What is Vendion Snap and Pay and how does it work for restaurants?
Vendion Snap and Pay is a new feature where guests scan a QR code on the preliminary receipt to select their own items and pay via their mobile phones. It requires no app, syncs in real-time within the same system, and is included at no extra cost in the Online Order module.
Spring 2026 is here, and with it comes the premiere of outdoor terraces, fully booked weekends, and the inevitable pressure on your staff. We all know how a perfectly executed service can lose its momentum at the very last step: the payment. That is why we at Vendion are incredibly proud to present our latest product launch – Snap and Pay.
This is not just a new feature; it is a paradigm shift in how your restaurant handles the checkout process for large groups. By shifting the power of payment to the guest's own phone, without requiring apps or registrations, we eliminate the most time-consuming bottleneck in your dining room.
The End of the Terminal Dance and Mental Math
Picture a Friday night. It's approaching 9 PM, and your restaurant is packed. At table four sits a party of eight who have just finished their dinner. They've had a fantastic experience, but now they want to move on. The waiter drops off the bill, and the classic phrase echoes across the table: "We want to pay separately, and I'll take two of those beers, while she takes the wine, but we're splitting the starter."
In a traditional workflow, this means your staff has to stand at the table with a card terminal, calculate who is paying what, manually enter the amounts, and wait for eight separate card transactions. It takes an average of 10 to 15 minutes for a larger group to split a bill this way. During that time, the table next to them gets annoyed because they can't order more drinks, and the kitchen is waiting for the waiter to pick up food from the pass.
This is where Snap and Pay comes in and completely changes the game. Instead of having the staff act as human calculators, we let the technology do what it does best.
How Snap and Pay Works in Practice
The concept behind Snap and Pay is brilliant in its simplicity, both for your staff and for your guests. Everything happens completely friction-free and in real-time.
- Print the preliminary receipt: When the table asks for the bill, your staff prints a standard preliminary receipt (förhandsnota) from the POS or a mobile device. At the bottom of this receipt, a unique, dynamic QR code is automatically printed.
- Guests scan: The staff leaves the receipt on the table and can immediately move on to the next task. The guests take out their own smartphones and scan the QR code using their standard cameras.
- No app required: Guests are instantly directed to an elegant, web-based view of their specific bill. Nobody needs to download an app, and nobody needs to create an account.
- Select and pay: On their phones, they see the entire order. They can easily check exactly the dishes and drinks they personally consumed. If they want to split a bottle of wine, they simply tap the item and choose to pay a fraction of it. They then pay seamlessly using Swish, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card.
- Real-time sync: Because multiple guests at the same table can scan the code simultaneously, the bill updates in real-time on everyone's screens. When one person has paid for their steak and their beer, those rows are immediately marked as paid for the others. The risk of double payments is nonexistent.
Everything Happens in the Exact Same System
One of the biggest challenges with older POS systems is that third-party solutions for QR payments often reside in separate databases. This creates an administrative nightmare scenario where you have to reconcile reports at the end of the day.
With Snap and Pay, that problem does not exist. The solution is deeply integrated into Vendion's core and is built upon our Order module. When a guest pays their share via Snap and Pay, it is immediately registered in the POS, exactly as if the staff had taken the payment with a physical card terminal. The table updates, the balance is deducted, and everything lands neatly in your Z-report.
Payments are handled through Vendion Inlösen, powered by our partner Adyen. This means that whether the guest pays via the QR code with Swish or taps an Amex at the bar, all your payouts are consolidated into a single deposit to your account (T+1). You get a complete financial overview without having to log into multiple different portals.
Increase Table Turnover and Maximize Profitability in 2026
Saving 15 minutes per large group might not sound like much in isolation, but multiply that over an entire weekend. If you have ten large tables in one evening, you have suddenly saved two and a half hours of labor for your front-of-house staff.
This freed-up time can instead be invested where it actually creates value: in the guest experience. The staff gets time to upsell an extra round of cocktails, recommend a dessert, or ensure the regulars get the attention they deserve. Furthermore, it reduces the waiting time for guests to leave the table, which in turn means you can reset the table faster (turn time) and seat the next party. This has a direct and measurable effect on your RevPASH (Revenue Per Available Seat Hour).
