From one restaurant to two: build a repeatable opening process

From one restaurant to two: build a repeatable opening process

What should I prepare in the system before opening a second restaurant?

Separate shared templates from local settings such as company details, registers, payments, tables, stations and permissions. Test the complete workflow at the new venue and reconcile reports before opening. Document the process so later openings can build on it.

Opening a second restaurant is a chance to decide how the group should work. Copy everything from the first and you may bring old exceptions, unclear names and unnecessary permissions. Start entirely from scratch and you lose what already works.

Aim for a reusable foundation with explicit local choices. It should remain useful when the next venue has a different layout or concept.

    Separate shared and local settings

A central menu can contain product names, categories, descriptions and modifiers. Vendion Chain Operations can publish a template to selected restaurants, with some fields locked and others open to local changes.

Local configuration includes the floor plan, kitchen stations, opening hours and products actually offered. Also check company details, payment arrangements and reporting for the new business. A shared brand does not mean every venue has the same legal or financial circumstances.

Assign each task an owner and a clear sign-off. “Menu copied” does not mean the correct prices and modifiers have been tested in every relevant channel.

    Run a realistic test order

Use the new venue’s equipment and network. Enter several items, send them to different stations, change a modifier and split the payment. Then trace the order through the reports.

Test a refund and an order requiring correction too. Shared gift cards need a test across two venues: purchase at one, partial redemption at the other, followed by checks of the remaining balance and each company’s documentation.

The person responsible for accounts should be able to follow the whole transaction. Automated documentation becomes useful when it can be reconciled with the actual workflow.

    Do not copy every permission

The local manager needs to run the venue. That does not mean everyone should see the entire group’s information or publish menu changes to every location.

Decide which roles can change prices, issue refunds, see reports and administer staff. Where employees work at multiple locations, make the employer, time recording and responsibilities clear. A system account does not replace employment arrangements.

Support the opening, then review evidence

Schedule the first live use when responsible people are available. Vendion requires internet access, so test coverage and backup procedures before guests arrive. Make clear whom staff should contact and how problems are recorded.

After the first shifts, review missing items, incorrect routing, payment differences and recurring questions. Add what you learn to the opening template. This gives the third restaurant a better starting point than the second.

    Budget for the next step

Chain Operations is a separate add-on and is not included in Vendion 360. Plan POS, hardware and other modules for each restaurant. Check pricing and book a walkthrough of your next opening.
